An Introduction to Your Adventure

Welcome, adventurer, to the first steps of your journey. Contained within these pages are activities that will help you imagine the adventures of a legendary character in the world of Dungeons & Dragons. Will you be a heroic paladin in shining armor who helps innocents or a rogue who charms their way out of danger? What monsters will you encounter, and what happens next? It’s all up to you.

You’ll chart the course of your adventure by completing the activities in these chapters in order. First, you will imagine a unique character to represent you. Then, you’ll expand and embellish your world, adding allies, villains, and dungeons. When the workbook is complete, it will contain your character’s legend!

If you are playing a Dungeons & Dragons game with family or friends, you might fill out this workbook about your game character. Otherwise, you can use these activities to imagine an adventure all on your own. While it might be helpful to have the other Young Adventurer’s Guide books in the series to consult, all you really need is your imagination.

Prepare your spells and sharpen your creativity: your adventure is about to begin!
“Characters & Quests offers a guided method to making characters plus ample space for notes on the adventuring party and the adventures they get up to. Players who own this book no longer have to worry about notes scribbled in margins that nobody can decode until it’s too late.”Forbes

“This hardback book has some really compelling tools to get your kid thinking about their character . . . Kids can record their adventure details for their character, including allies, party members, important events, villains, magic items, and more . . . it could really dial your kid’s creativity into focus to help them more tangibly imagine the character they’re going to play.”—GeekDad

“Using the prompts and exercises in this book will greatly help you to fill out a backstory for your character, define how your adventuring group works together, how they met and became an adventuring party, and what motivates them . . . These little extra bits of information can really bring a character to life and, in some cases, make it easier to decide what actions would be appropriate for that character.”—Game Vortex

“Creating a title for your adventure, drawing your character, and deciding who the villain will be—it’s all part of the fun. If you enjoy action, fantasy, and role-playing games, you’ll definitely love this book!”—TIME for Kids
