In today's fast-paced, technology-laden society, it's easy to become overwhelmed. People seek calm and simplicity, but have a hard time realizing a "Zen" life. Monk and sensei Domyo Sater Burk illustrates how to get started on the path to peace and enlightenment, regardless of cultural or religious affiliation. You'll learn the foundation and essential teachings of Zen practice, how to engage in meditation and mindfulness, and how to live daily within a Zen moral code.
Domyo Sater Burk has been a student of meditation for 20 years. Ordained as a Soto Zen priest in 2001, she had seven years of residential training at Dharma Rain Zen Center and was empowered to function as an independent Zen teacher in 2010 by Rev. Gyokuko Carlson. In addition to Zen meditation, Burk has experience with mindfulness and all the various forms of Buddhist meditation, and has developed a profound respect for the power of meditation to help people access their inner peace, balance, and wisdom. She is also the author of Idiot's Guides: Zen Living and Idiot's Guides: Mindfulness, and leads Bright Way Zen Center in Portland, Oregon.
