Think Like a Doctor

Empower Yourself to Make Smarter Health Decisions

From double board-certified pediatrician Dr. Zachary Rubin, the New York Times bestselling author of All About Allergies, a myth-busting book that demystifies how doctors make decisions and helps readers to evaluate health claims, debunk misinformation, and take charge of their own well-being

What if the best way to understand your health is to understand how your doctor thinks?

Every day, millions of people turn to social media for answers about their symptoms, their lab results, and their fears, yet they are met with a flood of conflicting, confident, and often misleading advice.

In Think Like a Doctor, Dr. Zachary Rubin pulls back the curtain on how medical decisions are actually made. Instead of offering quick fixes or one-size-fits-all answers, Dr. Rubin teaches you how to think: how to weigh risk, recognize red flags, interpret data, and spot misinformation before it leads you down the wrong path.

Drawing on real patient stories, scientific evidence, and firsthand experience navigating the chaos of online health advice, he reveals why influencers so often sound convincing and why they're often wrong.

Whether you're trying to understand your own symptoms, make sense of conflicting medical advice, or advocate for yourself or your family, Think Like a Doctor gives you the tools to move from confusion to clarity—with confidence, not fear.
Dr. Zachary Rubin is a double board-certified pediatrician and allergist/immunologist who practices at Oak Brook Allergists in the Chicago area. Dr. Rubin earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University, completed his pediatrics residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, and his allergy/immunology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. Outside of medicine, he enjoys swimming, hiking, hula hooping, and spending time with his wife, daughter, and three German shepherds.
