Kate Emery lives in Perth and works as a senior reporter for the West Australian. The Dysfunctional Family's Guide to Murder, her North American debut, comes out in October 2025. Published in Australia in 2024 with the title My Family and Other Suspects, The Dysfunctional Family's Guide to Murder won the John Marsden Book of the Year for Older Children at the 2025 Australian Book Industry Awards, as well the 2025 Indie Book Award for Young Adult Fiction, and has been shortlisted for the prestigious 2025 Prime Minister’s Literary Awards in the Young Adult category.
