The American Library Association’s Odyssey Award committee has named Black Girl You Are Atlas a 2025 Odyssey Honor audiobook! In this semi-autobiographical collection of poems, author and narrator Renée Watson shares her experience growing up as a young Black girl at the intersections of race, class, and gender, and encourages young listeners to embrace their future.
The ALA’s Odyssey Award is given to the producer of the best audiobook produced for children or young adults, available in English in the United States. The award’s name is taken from the Greek Odyssey epic, which was originally told and passed down in the oral tradition.
