Whether or not you were one of the lucky librarians who lined up in person for a delicious 2023 Odyssey Awards Ceremony at ALA Annual in Chicago on June 26, 2023, we are thrilled to serve up this terrific feast of a presentation delivered by LUNCH LADY series author & illustrator Jarrett J. Krosoczka and actress Kate Flannery (The Office), voice of the Lunch Lady herself!
The First Helping (Lunch Lady Books 1 & 2) was named a 2023 Odyssey Honor Audiobook by the hardworking Odyssey Committee who said: “These graphic novels have been reimagined by author Jarrett J. Krosoczka into a full cast audio production. The larger-than-life voices and sound effects set a perfect tone for retelling a beloved series, allowing it to be enjoyed in a new way.” The silver medallion may not be made of chocolate (sorry, Lunch Lady!) but as Jarrett says in their adorable skit, “It’s better than chocolate.” The audiobook was produced by Jarrett J. Krosoczka and Lauren Klein, with Executive Producer Nick Martorelli.
