AUTHOR EVENTS

Requests for author appearances must be submitted in writing using our Library Literary Event Proposal Form. (Click to download Word doc.)

If you are requesting a visit from a Penguin Random House children’s book author, please contact our friends at Penguin Young Readers or Random House Children’s Books.

The PRH Common Reads site has plenty of tips for hosting authors, although it may depend somewhat on your role and audience—for more information, please follow the links below:

  • If you are a professor or work at a university or college you will want to consult the First-Year Reading Resources page, which you can access here.
  • If you are a community librarian, community leader, and/or work at your public library, you will want to consult the Community Reading for Adults Resources page, which you can access here.
  • If you work in a K – 12 school as either a teacher, librarian, or in another capacity, you can consult the Community & School for Children & Young Adults Resource page, which you can access here.

BOOK SUBMISSIONS

We do not accept book submissions, proposals or submission queries via e-mail at this time. If you would like to have your work or manuscript considered for publication by a major book publisher, like Penguin Random House, we recommend that you work with an established literary agent. The Literary MarketPlace (the LMP), is a reference guide that contains a listing of literary agencies and can be found in most libraries.

AUDIOBOOKS

Booksontape.com has moved! You can now find all formats and our full catalog, including audiobooks and large print, right here on PenguinRandomHouseLibrary.com. We are excited to continue to serve the library market and your listener advisory needs via our Audiobook newsletter, blog, and our Audiobook landing pages for Adults (BOT) and Kids (Listening Library) where you can find the latest news, collections, and new releases. All CD and large print orders have migrated to Penguin Random House Biz Self-Service portal (BIZ).

In order to purchase physical CDs and Large Print titles direct through Penguin Random House, you must create a Biz account. This is the only way you can view previous orders and invoices. PLEASE NOTE: If you previously ordered via booksontape.com, Books on Tape and Listening Library (BOT/LL) online account access has migrated to Penguin Random House Biz Self-Service portal (BIZ).

If you are an organization that currently uses a BOT/LL login, you must register for a BIZ account using the information outlined in the following steps. Accounts will NOT automatically be migrated to BIZ!

Locate your BOT/LL Billing Account Number
If your organization has multiple account numbers, you only need to register your BILLING account. Shipping accounts will be automatically added.

Obtain a SAN (Standard Access Number)
If you do not already have your SAN, please contact Penguin Random House Customer Service (phone: 1 800 733 3000; or email: bizcs@penguinrandomhouse.com)

Designate BIZ systems administrators for your organization
BIZ systems administrators manage your organization’s account. We strongly recommend designating at least one other BIZ account administrator besides yourself (i.e. directors/principles, acquisitions/office managers, etc.).

If you do not have an account, please contact our New Account department at newaccount@penguinrandomhouse.com to request an application.

As of Sept 1, 2019, BOT no longer publishes CDs in BOT library packaging. However, CDs in standard retail packaging are available to libraries and can be found on our website. Additionally, in-stock backlist library-packaged CD editions continue to be available on our website. And of course, our entire catalog of Books on Tape and Listening Library titles continue to be published as library audiobook downloads available via your providers. PLEASE NOTE: SOPs are no longer available.

No, BOT does not offer any Standing Order Plans (SOPs) as of September 2019.

If you are not a librarian or educator, please visit our retail audiobook site, www.penguinrandomhouseaudio.com.

Or check out an audiobook at your local library!

Yes! We have no objection to libraries playing our audiobook titles at live events that take place in the library setting such as “story time” or “book club” events for small groups of children and their parents, so long as admission is not charged and the event is not broadcast, streamed or recorded for broadcast or streaming.

Performers are selected by the individual producers working on each title most often in conjunction with the author. Our producers do not listen to audition tapes sent directly to Penguin Random House, they do however listen to clips and review profiles that are uploaded to the online casting site, ahabtalent.com. For more resources on becoming an audiobook narrator, please visit the Audio Publishers Association website at www.audiopub.org for more information.
