The popular Social Studies Connects series links history, geography, civics and economics to kids’ daily lives. Featuring stories with diverse characters who face situations young readers can relate to, these books support reading and social studies skills including researching, inferring, comparing, and communication. An activity to stimulate curiosity about the world is included in each book!

Zack's cupcake went missing, and someone ate the evidence. Is Tyler innocent--or guilty? Only the Student Court can decide! (Social Studies Topic: Civics/Justice System)
ELLEN JACKSON was born and raised in southern California. As a teenager, she always wished her feet were small and delicate, and tried to cram them into shoes that were several sizes too small. Later, when she read the story of Cinderella to her kindergarten classes, she wondered how anyone could run in glass slippers, much less dance in them. Now the author of several books for children, Ellen lives in Santa Barbara, California, where she has gladly forgotten the recipes for dozens of ways to make tuna casserole. Blanche Sims has illustrated scores of books for children, including the books in Patricia Reilly Giff’s Polk Street School series and those in the Oliver and Company series by Page McBrier. She lives in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. View titles by Blanche Sims
