Betty MacDonald was born in Boulder, Colorado, and grew up in various places in the West. The Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle stories were first told to her daughters, Anne and Joan. MacDonald is also the author of The Egg and I, Anybody Can Do Anything, Nancy and Plum, and Onions in the Stew. Mrs. MacDonald died in 1958.
