Step inside the studio of Andres Valencia, the child prodigy who has astonished the art world with his boldly inventive paintings.

In 2021, Andres became the youngest artist in history to showcase his work at Art Miami, where his large-scale portrait paintings informed by Cubism quickly sold out. He has since taken the creative world by storm, selling dozens of paintings for six-figure sums and sharing videos of his paintings-in-process with hundreds of thousands of fans online.

Andres Valencia: Painting Without Rules tells the story of this remarkable self-taught artist and sheds light on his creative process—what inspires him, how he executes his artwork, and what creativity means to him as a young person. You’ll get an inside look as Andres works in his studio—mixing paint, sketching with oil pastels, and expressing his imagination on the canvas—until the large, wildly unique faces and bodies he’s known for come into form.

An inspiring and heartwarming look at one of the most accomplished young artists in the world, this boldly colorful coffee table book features a gallery of over 100 of Andres’ works and can be enjoyed by both casual creatives and serious artists of any age.
"Both a celebration of raw talent and a meditation on fearless creativity, this book radiates joy and artistic wonder." - Indulge magazine

"Now with his new book, Painting Without Rules published by DK Penguin Random House, Andres offers a glimpse into his creative world, revealing how his bold, figurative works take shape. Alongside behind-the-scenes glimpses of the young artist in his studio, the book features more than 100 of his pieces, showcasing the full range of his talent." - My Modern Met
Andres Valencia (b. 2011) is a California-based contemporary artist known for large, dramatic, colorful figurative paintings that are deeply influenced by Cubism. Valencia has been painting since he was five years old. He stands on a step ladder to create large-scale works with a mix of oil stick, and oil and acrylic paint, seeking to create bold colors and wildly imaginative fragmented facial compositions. Teachers involved in his California public school Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) program quickly identified his extraordinary talent. Surrounded by art at home, Valencia is inspired by Francisco Goya, Pablo Picasso, George Condo, and Salvador Dalí. View titles by Andres Valencia
