Born and raised in Toronto, Alex Paxton-Beesley is a graduate of George Brown Theatre School and the Canadian Film Centre’s prestigious Actor’s Conservatory.
Alex starred in the Canadian Screen Award-nominated CBC drama Pure and will be next seen as the lead of the upcoming project Holiday Swap. Known for her roles in the award-winning CTV drama Cardinal, CBC’s ever popular drama Murdoch Mysteries, and BBC America’s Copper, Alex’s credits include TV series and films such as The Bold Type, Sex/Life, A Mother’s Lie, Fortunate Son, Island of Shadows, Impulse, Space & Time, The Perfect Soulmate, The Strain, Alphas, The Firm, and Dirty Singles. On stage, Alex has performed in the Canadian premieres of Dora-nominated Festen with The Company Theatre and Rock ‘n’ Roll with Canadian Stage/Citadel Theatre, as well as the World Premiere of Theatre Aquarius’ The Woman in White. Alex also co-created and starred in the award-winning stage production of SLIP, which was remounted by invitation at the Tarragon Theatre Extra Space.
Alex has appeared as the lead in a number of short films including Burnt Grass (TIFF ShortCuts, 2014), Dredger (TIFF ShortCuts 2015), and in Phillip Barker’s short film Malody (TIFF ShortCuts 2012) which won best film at Bratislava International Film Festival and was selected as one of Canada’s Top Ten in 2012.
