Young Avengers Modern Era Epic Collection: Style > Substance

An award-winning critic and journalist, Kieron Gillen turned his attention to comics on titles including the critically lauded Phonogram with frequent creative partner Jamie McKelvie — as well as Thor, S.W.O.R.D. and Generation Hope. Gillen relaunched two longstanding Marvel series in Uncanny X-Men and Journey into Mystery before again teaming with McKelvie for an acclaimed take on Young Avengers. Gillen wrote Iron Man for Marvel NOW! — and he explored the galaxy far, far away in the pages of Darth Vader, Doctor Aphra and Star Wars. Gillen returned to Marvel with thoughtful runs on Immortal X-Men and Eternals.

Jamie McKelvie is a comic-book creator living in London. He first came to most fans’ attention with the publication of Phonogram: Rue Britannia and its sequel, The Singles Club. He is also the creator of Suburban Glamour. McKelvie has gone on to draw numerous projects for Marvel — including Siege: Loki, Invincible Iron Man, Wolverine, Ultimate Spider-Man, Secret Avengers and Generation Hope. Fresh from their celebrated Young Avengers collaboration, McKelvie and writer Kieron Gillen are receiving their now customary praise for The Wicked + The Divine from Image.

Kate Brown lives and works full-time making comics amid the dreaming spires of  Oxford in the UK. She likes comics (obviously), sea creatures (particularly crustaceans), aquariums, snails, dolls, figurines and puppets, rainy weather, soup, sandwiches, cartoons, books, films and music. She is unable to make muffins, which makes her quite sad. Her work includes the graphic novel Fish + Chocolate; numerous stories — and four board games — in the pages of British weekly comic The Phoenix; and animated short The Crown of Blood, commissioned to be shown in the Tower of London.
