What is your fondest library memory?
I was doing research for a letters anthology, combing the stacks for some volume that might include a first-hand account of Lincoln’s assassination. I was paging through biography after biography, coming up empty. I thought: “But there had to have been someone who saw Lincoln shot.” Then I looked up in exasperation and saw, on the top shelf, the book We Saw Lincoln Shot.
