Happy New Year! Now that we’ve made it to 2015, we wanted to remind you about the upcoming event created by The National Book Foundation, GoodReads, Mashable and Penguin Random House—National Readathon Day, which will take place on Saturday, January 24, 12-4 p.m. (in each respective time zone). Under the program, readers are asked to read a book for four straight hours and to raise funds to support the National Book Foundation, which brings books to needy communities and promotes a lifelong love of reading.
Libraries and Bookstores are being invited to host “reading parties” on January 24, so that readers can gather, connect and read silently together.
I hope you will consider participating—we have many libraries signed up already! If so, let us know that you plan to host a Readathon party by emailing us—there are still free Readathon posters available to support your event! There are also downloadable promotion materials on the site.
