Bret Easton Ellis’ chilling modern classic American Psycho will soon become the latest serial killer TV-series. It’s to air on FX.
The novel, set in the late 80s, told the story of a wealthy yuppie investment banker named Patrick Bateman who decides to become a successful serial killer. In 2000, Christian Bale starred in the popular film version. The FX drama series will look ahead to what’s become of Bateman, now in his mid-50s and as outrageous and lethal as ever, as he takes on a protégé in a sadistic social experiment. His new partner will become every bit his equal—a next generation American Psycho.
The project will be written by Stefan Jaworski and co-produced by Lionsgate and FX. Allison Shearmu, Jaworski and Ed Pressman are executive producers. It will be enjoyable to see the situations Bateman get himself into.
Here’s a favorite scene from the American Psycho film that always sent chills up my spine and forever changed Huey Lewis’ hit “It’s Hip to Be Square” for me.
