half-a-yellow-sun-skip-cropChimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s epic love story Half Of A Yellow Sun has been adapted into a movie by the same name by Biyi Bandele. The story tells the tale of Olanna (Thandie Newton) and Kainene (Anika Noni Rose) two glamorous twins, living a privileged city life in newly independent 1960s Nigeria. The two women make very different choices of lovers, but rivalry and betrayal must be set aside as their lives are swept up in the turbulence of  the 1967-1970 Nigerian-Biafran war. Many are talking about Chiwetel Ejiofor’s powerful performance who plays Odenigbo opposite of Newton. As the book was, this is sure to be one amazingly gripping and emotional film. The film is set to start hitting theatres in September.

Here’s a sneak peek trailer.
