The 2013 Christopher J. Hoy Silent Auction

unshelved 2

Welcome back from ALA Annual! ALA is truly our favorite time of year, talking about the books one and one with all of you is why we do what we do. I just wanted to take a minute to thank all of you that supported the Christopher J. Hoy Silent Auction during the conference. The quilts and artwork together raised nearly $6,000!

(Click here to view the quilts that were auctioned.)

The money raised is for a great cause, named for Christopher J. Hoy, who was director of the ALA Conference Services Office for over 20 years, the scholarship was established with donations from the family of Christopher J. Hoy and the Exhibits Round Table (ERT) to honor his memory. This $5,000 General ALA Scholarship is awarded each year to an individual who will be attending an ALA-accredited program of library and information studies leading to a master’s degree.

Thank you again for your support, and a special thank you to Quercus Books and their upcoming novel about falling in love at any age, Thursdays in the Park for their additional sponsorhip to the auction.

We look forward to the 2014 auction in Las Vegas!
