We were so excited to hear that two of our authors had been awarded an Edgar this year. Chris Pavone won Best First Novel for The Expats (Crown) and Ben H. Winters won Best Paperback Original for The Last Policeman (Quirk Books). The Edgar Awards are named after MWA’s (Mystery Writer’s Association) literary saint Edgar Allan Poe. Each year Edgar Awards are given in various categories of mystery to honor crime-writing authors.

Ben H. Winters News
In Ben’s follow-up to The Last Policeman, Countdown City (out July 2013) there are only three months to go before the asteroid will destroy the earth. The Concord Police Department is now operating under the auspices of the U.S. Justice Department, and Hank is out of a job – until he’s hired by an old friend to help locate her husband that she thinks has gone “bucket list.”It isn’t long before Hank’s missing-person case turns into a murder investigation and he must recruit the help of Nicola, his estranged sister that is now part of a conspiracy theorists group that Hank has so far ignored and despised. Hank risks his own life to solve this murder- and yet asks himself, why? The world is ending anyway—and in a civilization that has lost all of its’ order and coffee, why is he seemingly the only one that has stayed the course?
