Our favorite eleven-year-old amateur detective Flavia de Luce is back!  Read an excerpt from SPEAKING FROM AMONG THE BONES—the 5th book in Alan Bradley’s award-winning cozy British mystery series.  This time Flavia is digging up bodies . . . and what she unearths will prove there’s never such thing as an open-and-shut case.

“The precocious and irrepressible Flavia . . . continues to delight.”

  • I find Flavia so charming and, although clearly a unique character, she is such a realistic portrayal of a young girl. I think part of that realism and charm comes from the very detailed world you have created for her. Can you please speak about your “world-building” process? Did you create charts, maps, or character outlines before writing? How did Flavia and her family come into being?
