We just learned that Chi’s Sweet Home, Volume 10, will be the last in this sweet series, about Chi the adorable cat that we all have learned to love.

Chi is a mischievous newborn kitten who on a leisurely stroll with her family finds herself lost and alone. Separated from the warmth and protection of her mother, desperately attempts to reunite with her family of feral cats. When the kitten feels all hope is lost, she is found in a park by a young boy named Yohei and his mother. After taking a tumble Yohei feels just as distraught as the kitten he sees before him, and he quickly takes comfort in feeling a sense of sympathy with the cat. And before she could even know what hit her, the little kitty was picked up and soon under the protection and care of Yohei’s family–the Yamada’s.

Every moment of their daily life is filled with something we can all cherish. As Chi Yamada has shown kittens are a resourceful and strong lot. Through play and exploration they learn to hunt for their food and to define their territory, much like the big cats of the savannah and jungle. Chi’s turf now stretches out for blocks. But after a brief sick spell, she is confined to her condo home while her instincts and heart command her to go out to spend time with her stray friends.

So after a sneaky escape from home, Chi makes her way back to the company of her friends, Cocchi and Blackie, but this time she departs with a better understanding of what it means to be a “cat”. What exactly does freedom or being a stray mean, though, is something she will have to learn first hand. And there may be a bit of a kitty culture shock in store.

We have just two more books to find out what will become of Chi- this is a great chance to introduce this adorable ca t to your patrons- we know her story will have a nice ending, but what will it be?
