The American Library Association (ALA), along with Carnegie Corporation of New York, just announced six books as finalists for the 2012 Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Fiction and Nonfiction. The amazing news is that three Random House authors were chosen as finalists! We are excited to congratulate our authors Karen Russell (Swamplandia!), who is nominated in the Fiction category, and James Gleick (The Information: A History, A Theory, A Flood) and Robert Massie (Catherine the Great: Portrait of a Woman, both whom are nominated in the non-fiction category.
Winners will be announced at the ALA’s annual conference in Anaheim, California, on June 24.
The awards are made possible by a grant from Carnegie Corporation of New York and are co-sponsored by ALA’s Booklist magazine and the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA).
