Today as part of Libs on Film we will be viewing something horrifying: a beautiful library blown to pieces thanks to Sean Connery and the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Must you always be so dramatic Mr. Connery? We know, we know it’s often for the greater good, but those poor books, we weep. Another disturbing part of this clip is Stuart Townsend — in all his Dorian Gray glory — being shot again and again. I must admit though, it is cool when the German solider demands of Gray “What are you?” and our famed, immortal youth simply exclaims “I’m complicated” and walks away in a quite suave manner.
In this movie there are two bella set libraries shown in the 2003 film adaption of the famous comic. The one in which the fight scene takes place is the private library of Dorian Gray. The other library in the film is supposed to be a secret wing of the British Museum. I would love to encounter superheroes in a secret section of the British Museum. Perhaps if I write a nice letter to League of Extraordinary Gentleman creator Alan Moore he could easily make that happen. Anyone care to join me?
