In case you’ve missed it, we want to make you all hip to an incredible event – World Book Night – happening across America on April 23, 2012! The first World Book Night was held in the UK last year, and it was such a success that it’s spreading around the world! This year the States and Ireland will join the cause. The goal is to distribute 1 million books. Please consider volunteering — If you sign up you will be able to take 20 free copies of a book to a location in your community, hand them out to people and be given the opportunity to open up the world of reading to someone. You’ll have to sign up by Feb. 6.
The mission is to give great books to new readers, to spread the joy reading through your passion for a great book (sounds like something that librarians are already good at, no?). The entire publishing, bookstore, library and author community is supporting this effort with donated services and time. Join the cause today.
