We are saddened to bring you the news that Joe Simon, the creator of the iconic Captain American, died over the weekend.
During the late 30s at the beginning of the Golden Age of Comics Simon began working in comics. In 1941 he created Captain America, the patriotic super-soldier. On the first cover of the comic, Captain America is shown punching Adolf Hitler. Today Captain America continues to be among Marvel’s most iconic characters.
This past year brought the autobiography Joe Simon: My Life in Comics and the blockbuster film Captian America: The First Avenger. Read a wonderful obituary here.
Simon was 98 at the time of his death.
