Manga still furrows a good number of brows, as evidenced in today’s Unshelved strip. As most of you know, manga is a Japanese-born mode of storytelling, which features distinctive art and a back-to-front layout, causing many unexpecting consumers to cry out in alarm when the book they’re holding opens on the “wrong side.” Fear not. It’s normal. But if you’re unsure about manga, and have had some inquiries about it at the information desk, here are a few good, established series to help start a collection (more in our Graphic Novel catalog) :

Kujibiki Unbalance series (Del Rey Manga)

Parasyte series (Del Rey Manga)

Black Jack series (Vertical)

Emma series (CMX Manga, of DC Comics)
