Welcome to October: National Reading Group Month. Did you guys know about that? This is the first time I’m hearing of it. But apparently they have a website and everything: http://www.nationalreadinggroupmonth.org/
The great news for us is that two books from one of our RHPS publishers, Other Press, have made the list of nine Great Group Reads as chosen by the National Reading Group Month selection committee. It’s quite a feat for a small publisher to have over 20% of the list, and we’d like to congratulate them.
The books, since you are very curious now, are Eva Hoffman’s Appassionata, about a concert pianist who has an affair with a mysterious man who is either a Freedom Fighter or a terrorist, and Ninni Holmqvist’s The Unit, a dystopian tale in which childless men and women over a certain age have their organs harvested for the common good.
Check them out for your group! And you don’t have to take our word for it.
