As you may have read in the newspapers last week, President Obama is reversing the funding ban on stem cell research. Some people loved his decision and some–not so much.
Personally, I’m not really sure what it is. I guess I’m happy about it, because I know “research” in its most literal sense probably never hurt anyone, besides maybe some poor guy in a library who had a microfilm machine collapse on his head. “Implementation” is what can change things, for better or for worse, but that can be decided after the research. Anyway, I digress.
The good news is that I have access to a book written by the authority on stem cell medicine, Dr. Robin Smith. Appropriately, it is called Stem Cell Medicine. I think I need to read that one, so I don’t have to hide my head in the pretzel bowl at future intellectual cocktail parties. Be sure to look into this one for your collections! We could always use some more well informed citizens.
