Black is (almost) back! Attention ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK fans: The Ladies of Litchfield return for a brand-new season on June 6. The acclaimed comedy-drama prison series is inspired by a true story and based on the book of the same name. Taylor Schilling stars as Piper Chapman, who earns prison time for carrying drug money for her former girlfriend, Alex, played by Laura Prepon. The offense occurred ten years prior to the start of the series, and in that time Piper had moved on to a quiet, law-abiding life among New York’s Upper Class, complete with a writer fiancé Larry played by Jason Biggs. While in prison, Piper is reunited with Alex, and they re-examine their relationship and deal with the tough inmates.
Heartbreaking, hilarious, and at times enraging Orange is the New Black is a compassionate portrait of life inside a women’s prison. Little is known about Season 2, but it has been confirmed that Litchfield Penitentiary will be getting a new inmate as Lori Petty (Tank Girl, League of Their Own) joins the cast.
But until June 6, we’ll just have to speculate about what happens in Litchfield Penitentiary.
